Subject: Think and Grow Rich
Some 30 years ago, I was given "Success Through a Positive Mental Attitude" on the first day Combined Insurance sales training. It was co-authored by W. Clement Stone and Napolean Hill. It cited Think and Grow Rich as THE book on success. I bought it and read it. In fairness, I have fair library of these type of books. I read them over and over the next ten to 15 years. I set goals - personal improvement, family, business, wealth, health, and so on. I wrote them down. I read them daily for years. I set out to achieve these things. I read other authors and adopted systems built on the principles in Think and Grow Rich - Franklin Covey's day planner system is a good example.
Life gets busy and I fell out of practice. I didn't review my goals, values, and beliefs daily and may have even missed reviewing them annually which is when I would review and update my goals and set new ones. I wanted to be so rich I could retire at 50 and play most of my adult life, manage my investments, maybe do part time non-profit work. I simply fell away and got out of the habbit.
Then I woke up one day and I remembered it all. I remembered that I knew how to get what I wanted and I had done so many times. I had gotten lazy and I needed to get back on it. I assessed where I was... I was almost 50... I had $4M in assets... I had a good job making $130K/yr working about 20 - 30 hours a week and they were flexible hours... I had a houseful of good, strong, healthy, brilliant kids who spent a lot more time at home than out running the streets with their friends - and they had the right friends, good people, nice folks... I had my health, no debt (I mean $zero), multiple pieces of real estate, stocks, cash... Shoot, I realized I basically was retired and I had transformed my career into a part time retirement job. Wow, even on auto-pilot, it works! I mean, it REALLY works.
OK, so now you figure I want you to go to my web site and buy my thing. But no. I work at a regular job with a regular boss and with regular customers. Oh sure, I'm in IT and it's a hot niche and I've done it 30 years and I was in the right place at the right time and I was lucky and all that. All true. But I left college after 1 year with bad grades and I went to work in a factory, then I started banging nails (working for myself), then I sold floor covering (and kept banging nails.) I took a big chance and traded it all for a year of trade school where I learn computer electronics in the 1980s. I took a cut in pay to move into this industry, but I just knew it was the future, my future.
Hill says the seed of success is being able to squirrel away 10% of everything you make and investing it. That's what I tried to do. There were times when I couldn't, but I started early and I tried and I had faith.
I tried sharing this stuff with friends when I was younger and really nobody was ready for it. Hill said that he found you tell a person the formulae straight out, but it was more effective if the person discovered it on his own. That's why his book is so full of success stories. He wants you to discover the formula.
Today, it's all over the internet. I've been watching youtube and there's an entire industry that's grown up around this teaching. Many sources don't quite get it. They use the right words, but they miss the point. The Law of Attraction has taken on a life of its own, but it was born in this book.
The book is the real deal. The teaching is real. The results are real. I found this page because I'm to the point in life that I want to share it again. I want to buy a boxful of the books and give them as gifts to the people who work for me, kids at church, kids on the soccer team, everybody. I know most will smile, thank me, and toss it in a corner. But if five people read it and one goes on the cure cancer... Well, then I guess I cured cancer.
Oh, and one more thing no matter which side of the religious fence you sit on, Jesus said even with faith the size of a mustard seed, you can remove mountains. This is one of the keys to Hill's teachings, Peal's teachings, and so on. Good luck all!

Subject: Top 100 books ever written
If there were a list of the top 100 most influential books ever written in the last 200 years, this one would be on the list and I dare say near the top.

It teaches you to use self discipline and clear focusing of your goals in order to achieve things in life. I've used it over the years and it has really helped me get ahead.

It's sad that the Actual Truth felt the need to register on this site to leave a bad review. You'll notice he has no other reviews other than his 1 star review on this book. My guess is he lacked the commitment to follow through on his life's desires and is now spending his time to infect the dreams and pursuits of other, happier individuals while he/she suffers in a silent hell. I feel for you, friend. And I hope your journey improves.

Subject: Read this a grow stupid
A thoroughly idiotic book, that would only appeal to the same mental deficients and fantasists who think con books like "the secret" are super cool. The essential moral of this guys stupid philosophy is: locate a rich person, suck up to him, commit any number of heinous acts at his beck and call and you'll be rewarded with some of the wealth.

wow, what a plan. essentially prostitute yourself.

Also news flash, the idiots who wrote these stupid books, they got rich by selling you this snakeskin oil, so the further moral of the book is, bullshit people, con them, tell them whatever they want to hear to feel special, and you'll get rich.

A great book! The best self-improvement book read so far. You can verify the truth about Napoleon's word by knowing the facts that how many people have attained personal and professional success after reading his book and accepting and believing his laws of success. This book is more a 100 years old and the time passed in this 100 years stands as a proof that whatever this book says about success are truth. If you still do not believe in his philosophies, apply those in your life and see the results in your life!
